Eyes on the decay
Why Such A Sudden, Drastic Change?
While I’m extemely proud of what I’ve been able to cobble together on beehiiv, the platform is geared more towards the newsletter-as-a-business crowd, not principled, savvy political commentators.

Hey there valued reader!
SLSC will be permanently moving to Substack and merging with the existing “Sunday Funnies” platform; I’ve also been branching out in other ways (like short-form video), so it just makes sense to keep everything under one roof, so to speak.
Choosing A Platform Wisely To Foster Community Growth
Substack Has Become The Virtual “Town Square” - The Place For Political Content
It’s set up to seamlessly integrate written audio, and video content, meaning even small operations like SLSC can have fully integrated multimedia presence without needing nine tabs open in Chrome at once.
Since I’m dabbling in leftist punditry - which Substack actively fosters a leftist-sympathizing or at least left-curious audience/viewership - and because I’m not really motivated by Beehiiv’s novel means of revenue generation (especially considering the $50+/mo paywall between creators and any monetization tools whatsoever), it makes more sense to transfer the operation to Substack, archive old issues, and grow my content universe via Substack primarily.
Besides which, when people read my other work (the Propaganda Factory or 3N, for example) it’s already on Substack - asking people to go off-platform is a much bigger ask than a simple “hey, click the thing please” call-to-action. No switching gears, just swimming down the same stream as they were already in.
Put the content where people already expect it
My hope is that SLSC will grow not just faster but that those who subscribe will be more invested and interested in the stuff I put out. You wouldn’t turn on MTV looking for a baseball game, and the same principle holds true for newsletter/blog spaces. Initially, the bells and whistles that came with the free trial beehiiv offers new writers were very appealing and allowed for interesting brand growth and development, it really is geared more towards the “I’m writing this so there’s stuff to tie together advertisements and put food on my table,” not “earnest political education efforts furthering a pro-revolutionary worldview.”
I’m not doing this to make a quick buck; if that was my game, I’d write exclusively about herbal supplements and nootropics, then hawk my own personal stacks until the feds raid my basement for “creative labelling”. As it is, I only occasionally bring up such things, and even then it’s motivated by obsessive rumination, not personal profit. (to wit: I have “politics-and-psychopharmacology autism”, rather than something standard like an obsession with model trains).
Why even write SLSC in the first place?
By presenting people with high-quality, well written and thoroughly researched left-wing political analysis and commentary, I - along with scores of other true-blue dialectical materialists voices present in online political circles - provide normies with a casual-to-intense interest in politics a much more healthy, nutritious media diet.
Essentially, without folks like myself doing what I’m doing, the only people making content would be grifty neoliberal shills (like David Pakman and Destiny Molestiny) and old lefties from way back who are already established as pillars of leftist thought (The Majority Report or The Serfs, for example).
Narratives don’t establish themselves; each one of us who does this work helps decide what is fair game to discuss and what prevailing narratives are dominant.

Live On Substack: SLSC In The Morning!
Starting with the New Year (or thereabouts), I’ll be hopping on live video to reflect on daily headlines, important updates, and otherwise engage with and help improve the tenor of modern political discourse in Trump’s America.
